CFMDS 2019 Success!


Well done to all students who participated in classes in this years Chichester Festival for Music, Dance & Speech. There was an incredibly high standard in the piano section this year, so congratulations to everyone who was awarded first place in their class.

Sydney and Sophia, who played in the Junior Grade 1 class. They were both awarded very high marks (86 and 88) and Sydney was awarded the Joy Fearnehough Challenge Cup.

Stephanie, who achieved distinction for her Grade 1 exam and played in the Piano Junior Grade 2 & Under class. She was given a "Very Good" mark.


Zoe, who played in the Grade 3 Under 18 class and won the Jenkins-Draper Achievement Sheild. This is the second year in a row that she has won her class.

Xander, who also played in the Grade 3 Under 18 class and was awarded second place. He has just passed his Grade 3 piano exam.


Jamie, who is preparing for his Grade 8 at the end of the year and performed two of his pieces: a Scaratti sonata and a Chopin nocturne. He was awarded first place in the Piano Higher class, winning the Mary Begg Challenge Cup.

Sisi, who started learning in October and won the Derek Golder Memorial Cup in the Adult Beginners class.

Update, July 2019: Sisi has now sat her Grade 1 exam and passed with distinction, after just 9 months of piano lessons.


Luisa, who won the Furlong award for her performance of "Shadows" in the Adult Grade 5 & Under class.

Annabel, who is preparing for her Grade 3 and played all of her pieces in the Adult Grade 5 & Under class. She was awarded second place.
